2026 Dakar Rally Prep: Development Testing New-Regulation Vehicles in Morocco

Issue #16:May 20, 2025

TLC is set to conduct a test run in Morocco on the African continent for about two weeks starting from the end of May with a rally car that has been developed based on the new Stock Class (Production Car category) regulations that will be in effect starting with the 2026 Dakar Rally.

In April, there were plans to compete in the Carta Rallye in the same country (Morocco), however the team withdrew due to vehicle trouble just before the event. For this upcoming test, the team has prepared a vehicle that addresses the problems previously experienced. The terrain in Morocco, including gravel, sand dunes and rocky surfaces is similar to the course conditions of the Dakar Rally, placing considerable load on the car. This will enable the team to confirm vehicle performance and identify problems.

Also participating in this test will be Koya Motono, a new mechanic member (from Fukuoka Toyota Corporation) who joined TLC in April this year, to boost the team's ability to push through the grueling two-week event.

Scenes and news from the Morocco vehicle development test will be shared on official TLC social media channels and accounts, so please stay tuned!
